1. Stay home if you do not feel well!
If you develop even minor symptoms, you should stay home. Most people only develop mild symptoms but may be contagious.
Anyone can have mild to severe symptoms. Older adults and people with serious underlying conditions, such as heart or lung disease or diabetes, appear to be at higher risk for more serious complications from COVID-19. The symptoms reported by people with COVID-19 range from those with mild symptoms to those who become seriously ill. Symptoms can appear 2 to 14 days after exposure to the virus. People with these symptoms could have COVID-19
The most common symptoms include fever, cough, sore throat, headache, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, fatigue, muscle/body aches, new loss of taste or smell, nausea or vomiting, diarrhea.
Contact your doctor and your school to discuss your symptoms. Seek emergency care immediately if you are having difficulties breathing, high fever, inability to wake or stay awake, chest pressure or pain, seek emergency care immediately.
2. PRACTICE SAFE SOCIAL DISTANCING AT SCHOOL.
COVID-19 is spread person to person. Avoid close contact with other people. As much as possible stay at least 6 feet away from other people. If you cough or sneeze, use a tissue to cover your nose and mouth, then immediately throw the tissue away and wash your hands thoroughly. Wear a mask when you are at school or other public places. Avoid touching your face. Make sure that your desk and other items you touch frequently at school are regularly cleaned and disinfected.
3. Wear a face mask while at school
When you are in public spaces, including school, wear a mask to cover your mouth and nose at all times. Avoid touching the mask unnecessarily. If you must touch the mask, wash your hands or use sanitizer before and after. Put on and take off the mask by handling ear loops or ties only. If you are using a reusable mask, wash the mask at the end of the day. Wearing a mask protects you and those around you, who may spread COVID-19 even before they develop symptoms.
4. Use hand sanitizer and wash your hands frequently
Good hand hygiene is essential to decrease the risk of infection and transmission of the virus. Routinely wash your hands or use sanitizer after using the bathroom, before handling food, after sneezing/coughing/blowing your nose, before and after touching your mask. Wash your hands with soap and water, scrubbing for at least 20 seconds. If soap and water are not available, use hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol content, rubbing your hands together for at least 20 seconds.
CDC recommends using a Hand Sanitizer with 60-95% alcohol
Wash your hands frequently with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, when visibly soiled, before eating, after using the restroom, especially after being in a public place, or after blowing your nose, coughing or sneezing, before eating or preparing food, before touching your face, after touching your cloth face cover, after changing diapers, after caring for a sick person, and after touching animals or pets.
Clean your school desks and chairs with disinfectant frequently.
